Genius of Peter Kay

Posted on Feb 9th, 2006 by flex22 : Mystic flex22
Peter Kay is one of my favourite comedians. Some of these aren't orgiinally his, but who cares.True northern humour, class!!!
Peter Kay Profile

Enjoy!......

1) I saw a woman wearing a sweatshirt with 'Guess' on it. I said,
'Thyroid problem?

2) When I was a kid I used to pray every night for a new bike. Then I realized that The Lord doesn't work that way, so I stole one and asked him to forgive me.

3) My mum was a ventriloquist and she always was throwing her voice. For ten years I thought the dog was telling me to kill my father.

4) I've often wanted to drown my troubles, but I can't get my wife to go swimming.

5) I was doing some decorating, so I got out my step-ladder. I don't get
on with my real ladder.

6) I went to a restaurant that serves 'breakfast at any time'. So I
ordered French Toast during the Renaissance.

7) Well I was bullied at school, called all kinds of different names. But one day I turned to my bullies and said - 'Sticks and stones may break my bones but names will never hurt me', and it worked! From there on it was sticks and stones all the way.

8 ) My Dad used to say 'always fight fire with fire', which is probably
why he got thrown out of the fire brigade.

9) S*x is like a game of bridge: If you don't have a good partner, you'd
better have a good hand.

10) I saw six men kicking and punching the mother-in-law. My neighbour
said 'Are you going to help?' I said 'No, Six should be enough.'

11) If we aren't supposed to eat animals, then why are they made out of meat?

12) I think animal testing is a terrible idea; they get all nervous and give the wrong answers.

13) You know that look women get when they want s*x? Me neither.

Peter Kay's questions...

1. Why does your gynaecologist leave the room when you get undressed?

2. If a person owns a piece of land do they own it all the way down to
the core of the earth?

3. Why can't women put on mascara with their mouth closed?

4. Is it possible to brush your teeth without wiggling your *rse?

5. Why is it called Alcoholics Anonymous when the first thing you do is stand up and say, 'My name is Bob, and I am an alcoholic'?

7. Why is there a light in the fridge and not in the freezer?

8. Why does mineral water that 'has trickled through mountains for
centuries' have a 'use by' date?

9. Why do toasters always have a setting that burns the toast to a
horrible crisp no one would eat?

10. Is French kissing in France just called kissing?

11. Who was the first person to look at a cow and say, 'I think I'll squeeze these dangly things here and drink whatever comes out'?

12. What do people in China call their good plates?

13. Why do people point to their wrist when asking for the time, but don't point to their crotch when they ask where the bathroom is?

14. What do you call male ballerinas?

15. Why is a person that handles your money called a 'Broker'

16. If quizzes are quizzical, what are tests?

17. If corn oil is made from corn, and vegetable oil is made from vegetables, then what is baby oil made from?

18. Why is it that when someone tells you that there are over a billion stars in the universe, you believe them, but if they tell you there is wet paint somewhere, you have to touch it to make sure?

19. Do illiterate people get the full effect of Alphabet Soup?

20. Did you ever notice that when you blow in a dog's face, he gets mad at you but when you take him on a car ride, he sticks his head out of the window?

Peter Kay's Universal Truths

1) Triangular sandwiches taste better than square ones.

2) At the end of every party there is always a girl crying.

3) One of the most awkward things that can happen in a pub is when your pint-to-toilet cycle gets synchronised with a complete stranger.

4) You've never quite sure whether it's ok to eat green crisps.

5) Everyone who grew up in the 80's has entered the digits 55378008 into
a calculator

6) Reading when you're drunk is horrible.

7) Sharpening a pencil with a knife makes you feel really manly.

8 ) You're never quite sure whether it's against the law or not to have a fire in your back garden.

10) Nobody ever dares make cup-a-soup in a bowl.

11) You never know where to look when eating a banana.

12) Its impossible to describe the smell of a wet cat.

13) Prodding a fire with a stick makes you feel manly.

14) Rummaging in an overgrow garden will always turn up a bouncy ball.

15) You always feel a bit scared when stroking horses.

16) Everyone always remembers the day a dog ran into your school.

17) the most embarrassing thing you can do as schoolchild is to call your teacher mum or dad.

18 ) The smaller the monkey the more it looks like it would kill you at the first given opportunity.

19) Some days you see lots of people on crutches.

20) Every bloke has at some stage while taking a pee, flushed half way through and then raced against the flush.

21) Old women with mobile phones look wrong.

22) Its impossible to look cool whilst picking up a Frisbee.

24) You never ever run out of salt.

25) Old ladies can eat more than you think.

26) You can't respect a man who carries a dog.

27) There's no panic like the panic you momentarily feel when you've got your hand or head stuck in something.

28 ) No one knows the origins of their metal coat hangers.

29) Despite constant warning, you have never met anybody who has had their arm broken by a swan.

30) the most painful household incident is wearing socks and stepping on an upturned plug.

31) People who don't drive slam car doors too hard.

32) You've turned into your dad the day you put aside a thin piece ofwood specifically to stir paint with.

33) Everyone had an uncle who tried to steal their nose.

34) Bricks are horrible to carry.

35) In every plate of chips there is a bad chip.

36) Knowledge is knowing a tomato is a fruit; Wisdom is not putting it in a fruit salad.

Ricky Gervais Podcast

Posted on Feb 10th, 2006 by flex22 : Mystic flex22
Ricky is a British comedian, though I hear he's quite popular in the US as well, so hopefully many of you will have heard of him. He's best known as the star of The Office.

Check out his new podcast here: http://www.rickygervais.com/podcast.php
It also features Steve Merchant and a guy called Karl Pilkington, who has many funny takes on things.I particuarly like his take, in show 10, on not going back over things that have past.Pretty much how I see it as well. :)

Apparently it's only running for two more shows, but oh well it's a laugh while it's here.Check it out.

PS: The podcast is a world record as the most downloaded ever........so far!

lol, or Alex as I usually refer to her.My friend Alex is new here, so please give her a warm welcome by inviting her as a friend.I've known her about two and a half years or more, and the conversations we've had have been a key factor to my progress over time.I personally believe she's just the type of person this place attracts:

Goal driven
Thinks outside of the box
Thinks big
A little bit crazy? *oops* :D
etc......

You can read more on what Alex is about when she starts adding content to her profile.I'm sure she'll find this place more welcoming and conducive to meeting like minded people than the wilderness of blogger.

You can find Alex here: http://daphoenix.zaadz.com/

Informed -> Invested -> Manifested!

Posted on Feb 16th, 2006 by flex22 : Mystic flex22
"All growth is a leap in the dark, a spontaneous, unpremeditated act without benefit of experience." - Henry Miller

That quote is true, but that doesn't mean that we can't use all the experience that we have to make the most informed decision possible.I've been looking for a quote to exemplify this point. It came in the form of a legendary Irish punter and owner of great racehorses such as Istabraq, JP McManus:

"Racing is a great leveller. The day you think you have mastered the game, you will be made to pay for it the following day. What you must do is build up a bank of experience that allows you to reduce and eliminate as far as possible the factors that make for foolish betting. In a word, you act to strict ground rules always and you endeavour to become an investor rather than a pure gambler." -
J.P. McManus

A dream

I had a daydream a few weeks ago.The question I was contemplating was:

"how can I make things as certain as possible?"

Then I saw an image, it was a pipe coming down towards me.Out of this pipe shot clues to the answers to my questions. They were wrapped in a kind of bean bag. However the beanbags were shooting out of the pipe so fast, that I couldn't catch them, no matter how hard I tried, they just flew right past me.In fact they were so fast that I could hardly even see them as they shot through the air.
Then it occured to me.The pipes circumference was larger than the bags flying out of them. Therefore all I had to do was shape and mould the end of the pipe, so that the beanbags would stop at the end, and so I could just calmly collect them.Shaping it too small would not let the clues through, and too large the clues would fly past me.

The trick is to mould your mind so that it is as ready as it can be to deal with what you set for it.

Making Progress

Posted on Feb 20th, 2006 by flex22 : Mystic flex22
The other day I was looking through my notebook, and came across a paragraph that I had written a few months ago.It said:

"Why is it that when I decide on something that I know isn't the right decision, because I feel bad, do I still go ahead and make this choice. Why do I not remember at that moment to change my mind? It is as if I cannot think of a positive outlook when I am so immersed in an unpleasant moment.Perhaps this comes down to affirming my purpose? ie: 'get to where I want to go in life.'"

Yesterday I came across this Vernon Howard material:

Q: How can we recognize and remain on the right path?

A: Imagine yourself hiking a forest trail with the aim of reaching the peak of a distant mountain. Coming to many forks along the trail, you don’t know which way to turn. This is not a severe problem as long as you maintain your wish for the mountain. See why? Your clear goal enables you to recognize the wrong path, for you see how it takes you away from the mountain, not toward it. Loyalty to your lofty aim is your corrective guide.

Aha! I get it! Making progress now, ....moving on :)

PS: Are you making progress?

Keep on keeping on.....

Posted on Feb 20th, 2006 by flex22 : Mystic flex22
Ok, first off I must say something. This blog is very similar to the last one, in fact it's the one I should have written.Of course that's taking nothing away from the other blog, it's just that I knew I hadn't nailed it and it's been on my mind for the last day.For some reason my head got into a bit of a spin, and something seemingly simple? eluded me.
What eluded me was that I had put in the wrong quote and hadn't gotten across the point that I wanted to.I'm sorry about this.I was about to comment on the last blog that I'd be posting it again.Lo and behold Kari replied just at that minute. Now like I said, the other blog is fine but for me it doesn't fully get across everything I need to say.I know I could just edit the last blog, but I won't because basically the last blog has actually turned out fine. Therefore I'm writing a new blog to get this new point across.Ok flex, shut up now and get on with it :O

The other day I was looking through my notebook, and came across a paragraph that I had written a few months ago.It said:

“Why is it that when I decide on something that I know isn’t the right decision, because I feel bad, do I still go ahead and make this choice. Why do I not remember at that moment to change my mind? It is as if I cannot think of a positive outlook when I am so immersed in an unpleasant moment.Perhaps this comes down to affirming my purpose? ie: ‘get to where I want to go in life.’”

Yesterday I came across this Vernon Howard material:

Q: Why do we fail to understand answers to our question?

A: The true answer to a question resides on a higher level than the question. Therefore a sincere person asking a question should not expect the answer to be immediately clear to him. He should not be discouraged by his lack of comprehension, but should patiently lift his consciousness up to the level of the answer. When an insincere person hears a true answer he gains nothing, for he instantly and fearfully distorts it to fit his own egotistical illusions.

This is it you see.I had written down the thoughts, and basically 'got it' yes!!! and then Vernon Howards quote just affirmed all of this and completely blew me away. Now I realise this is a big insight for me, therefore I wish to explain it further.

When I wrote that passage in my notebook, it was concerning a personal situation where I had to make a correct decision.I really needed to know the right answer.I was so involved in having the right answer, so reliant and dependant on it for myself  "egotistical illusions."  that I wasn't actually seeing the answer because everything was being clouded INSTANTLY!

I wrote: "Why do I not remember at that moment to change my mind?"

This is the link to the part where Howard says:
"He should not be discouraged by his lack of comprehension, but should patiently lift his consciousness up to the level of the answer."

Anyway I didn't change my mind and ended up making the wrong decision.A few months later something very interesting happened.I needed to make a correct decision again regarding a personal situation. This time I became involved (as is perfectly natural) with the situation. Now my old patterns of thinking were starting to form regarding this event. You know how you can almost feel the neurons lining up in your brain, that old pattern to a familiar situation. In fact usually it's not even conscious. You sense you're heading for the 'same old same old' yet you still 'go there.' Indeed, I need to reiterate this, even though I said the last sentence rather jokingly, I must stress that this is all perfectly natural behaviour and we should go with it.We should 'go there' seemlessly.Flow, don't control.

Now here's the good part.BOOM! Yes, there it was, aha! this time it was different. This time I saw the answer. The really key part to all of this is that I was reminded at the crucial moment, the correct answer!

"patiently lift his consciousness up to the level of the answer."

I had noted: "It is as if I cannot think of a positive outlook when I am so immersed in an unpleasant moment."

That's my ego being bruised, I realise this now.The difference now is that I am no longer dependant on anything.Honestly, right now, I feel as free as a bird. You see I go into situations still being the authentic me.The major change is that the need for an answer isn't even on the mind.I know that the answer is always higher than the question, and so I'm cool with everything.

I've remembered!

My immense thanks to the great Vernon Howard and my many friends here for making the realisation possible for me.

PS: This blog wasn't great, my heads still all over the place, but I feel that I must get this out now. Please ask if it makes no sense, or whatever, or discuss it further it's cool.So there you have it. :)

Thanks!

Be cool, always!

This article by Abraham Hicks that I came across yesterday is absolutely superb.Check it out: Make Peace with Where You Are.

"Most people, when they see conditions that make them feel bad—they just feel bad. And when they see something that makes them feel good—they just feel good. And then they conclude, "We’ve got to control the conditions." And so, they make laws, and they get all kinds of patrollers, and they get all kinds of people that then try to enforce the laws because they believe that if they could just control these conditions, then they would never have to look at anything that upsets them again. But then you discover that the tsunami will come, and that there aren’t laws or rules, or armies, that can stop that. Or the hurricane will come, or the earthquake will come… In other words, there’s always going to be something that is going to challenge your idea that you can control circumstances." - Abraham Hicks

lol, that has so been my train of thought more times than I care to admit.Even with recent discussions here, it is obvious that my need to figure a way around problems is born out of a kind of fear. Not that those discussions were of no value. On the contrary, they have lifted me to this new perspective. So they were wonderful discussions.

Abe is so spot on (as usual *not jealous, honest! :D *) when they say: " there’s always going to be something that is going to challenge your idea that you can control circumstances.""

Now personally I'm of the frame of mind that we can achieve anything. So, in a strange kind of way I have welcomed this: "always going to be something else"
That's like the new challenge for today, more stuff to peel away, to overcome.
Yes, I believe we have massed untapped potential that we can access from dreams and other means. However more and more I'm moving away from this slightly romantic noble notion that: "keep throwing it at me, I can take it all, grrrrr!!!,  I'll find a way around any problem you *bleeep'ers*"

I mean how wise can one become? How strong?  how intelligent? etc.It is probably endless. And there comes a point where one thinks: "ok, is this serving me?"

My answer to that question, at this time, is NO!

"Only the dead have seen the end of war"
- Plato

"He who dies and yet does not perish, has longevity" - Lao Tzu

"If you cannot make peace with where you are, then the unfulfilled desires are very slow in becoming fulfilled because that angst you feel about things not yet happening, is an indication of a vibration that’s literally holding it apart, from you." - Abe Hicks

The above quote explains why I haven't been at peace.Figuring ways around problems may bring me a new insight. But I'm always sending that vibe off, that vibe of 'angst' which I have come to realise is not serving me.Sure I figure things out with a cool head, my last discussions weren't apparently fearful, they were more 'enlightened' even 'joyeous' at the prospect of finding a new way around a problem. However (and this is a big step for me) I have become aware that underneath that there is a pervading sense of 'angst' and 'fear.'It's clouded very well, but it's there. Therefore, knowing that I create my reality, I have consciously recognized that angst and underlying fear, and I have consciously decided to change it to a feeling that serves me.

It may seem that I am a bit slow, seeing as though I've been reading Abe Hicks for a good while now.But I am really truly coming around to understanding that the way we are creates our reality.

So, be cool, always!

Are you truly aware that you create your reality?

Cheers!

Simply the best!

Posted on Feb 25th, 2006 by flex22 : Mystic flex22

"GUEST: I’ve heard people say that everything is a lesson. And Abraham doesn’t say that everything is a lesson, but that everything is…

ABRAHAM: Everything is the opportunity for new desire which is life. Everything is about life. The only question that, if we were standing in your physical shoes, we would ask ourselves is, “In this moment, am I making the best use of my life?” In other words, “As the idea of my mother comes, am I choosing the most uplifting thought about her? As I focus upon my mate, am I choosing the most uplifting thought? As I focus upon my physical body, am I choosing the most uplifting thought?” And most of you are not. Most of you are choosing the loudest thought. Most of you are choosing the most present or the most obvious.

When the question is, “Am I choosing the thought that feels the best?”
Then you cannot help but live out your experience in the way that you have intended.

When the question is, “Am I making the best use of this moment, am I choosing the thought that is of the highest vibration—which is the same thing to say as “Am I choosing the thought that feels the best?” Then you cannot help but live out your experience in the way that you have intended.
Before you came forth into this physical body the intentions that you held from your Nonphysical Perspective were general in nature—but they were joyful in nature. From the Nonphysical part of you, you knew that you would be exposed to contrast. And you knew that the Energy that flowed forth from within you would be so penetrating and so clear that it would be really difficult for you not to recognize whether you were in vibrational sync with it or not."
- Abraham Hicks

After I'd read this, the next best thought was to share it.

So, enjoy! :)
